Starting from January 1, 2024, the Kenyan government will abolish visa requirements for all international visitors to the East African country. This decision aims to boost trade and tourism within Kenya.

To implement this policy, a digital platform has been developed to identify all travellers to Kenya in advance through an electronic system. Once individuals are successfully identified, they will receive electronic travel authorization, simplifying the entry procedure.
“Beginning January 2024, Kenya will be a visa-free country. It shall no longer be necessary for any person, from any corner of the globe, to carry the burden of applying for a visa to come to Kenya,” President William Ruto said in the capital Nairobi.

In previous developments, the Kenyan government had already removed visa restrictions for citizens of other African Union (AU) member nations. This action places Kenya as the fourth country, alongside Benin, Gambia, and Seychelles, to take this step.
