After being grounded for more than two years, premium carrier Jet Airways aims to return to Indian skies in early 2022.
In its new avatar, Jet Airways 2.0, the airline plans to resume domestic operations in Q1 of 2022 with a maiden flight from New Delhi to Mumbai. Short-haul international flights are likely to roll out by Q3 and Q4 of 2022.
No complete flight schedules are out yet, as the airline is still laying out the groundwork for slot allocation, airport infrastructure and night parking with authorities.
“Our plan is to have 50+ aircraft in 3 years and 100+ in 5 years,” explained Murari Lal Jalan, the UAE businessman who is a lead member of the Jalan-Kalrock Consortium which brought Jet Airways back to life. To support this plan, a full narrow-body fleet will be leased to restart operations.

The company has hired 150+ full-time employees and is looking to onboard 1000+ more across categories.
