Ladies and gentlemen, the award for the ‘Comeback Kid’ at The Economics Times (ET) Startup Awards 2021 goes to…ixigo’s founders Aloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar. 😀
This win is a result of the constant support we have received from you over a period of 15 years. We would like to take this moment to thank you all for always choosing us as your travel partner.
Here is how it went —
Our co-founders Aloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar successfully impressed the jury with their diligence and sheer commitment to keep going even when the path was filled with obstacles.
A jury member Amit Agarwal, global SVP and country head at Amazon India said, “ixigo has seen many cycles of not being the leader, being written off, having faced the COVID-19 disruption, but they persevered and are taking the company all the way to an IPO. That is impressive.”
According to the reports, the winner was chosen after one of the longest discussions for a category during the ETSA jury meeting. It was highlighted that ixigo not only survived the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic but is also ready to launch its IPO soon.
A word from the winners —
Commenting on the award win, Aloke Bajpai said, “It has been a roller coaster ride full of twists and turns. We remained focused on customer problems and continued reinventing our business model and products to adapt to the ever-evolving customer needs and profile.”
“Despite being one of the least capitalised players in a hyper-competitive category, we never shied away from working on game-changing product ideas. At many points in our journey, we ran out of money, but we never ran out of ideas to grow faster and take a bigger bet on ourselves,” Rajnish Kumar added.
We, the ixi-team, would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your constant support in helping us achieve this feat. 🙂
