Is the high-speed bullet train coming to your city too? Know all about it

In a bid to reduce travel time between the cities, the Indian Railways is conducting several high-speed feasibility tests. The High Speed Rail Corporation (HSRC) which has been conducting these tests has submitted a final feasibility report for Delhi-Amritsar project. A draft report for Delhi-Kolkata has also been submitted to the Railway Ministry.

CEO of HRSC, MP Singh,said, “We have proposed to start construction of the Delhi-Kolkata corridor by 2021. The distance will be covered in 5.54 hours. The other projects are also on long routes. It will take 15 to 20 years to complete the corridors once the construction starts”.  

 

The list of high-speed corridors include —

Mumbai to ChennaiPune, Bengaluru and Tirupati
Mumbai to NagpurNasik, Aurangabad, Akola and Amrawati
Delhi to AmritsarChandigarh, Panipat and Ambala


Some other details of the bullet train are–

Operational speed – 300 km/hour
Commercial speed – 250 km/hour
Base fare – INR 4.5 per km
