India’s first ‘private’ train Tejas Express to run from October 4

The Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, India’s first private train run and managed by IRCTC will start operations from October 4.

According to railway officials, the fare of this train will be 50% less than that of flights on the same route. The train will operate 6 days in a week, except for Tuesdays. It will have stoppages at Ghaziabad and Kanpur.


The passengers will be able to book train tickets 15 days prior to their journey and the train might have dynamic fare and price model for ticket charges.

The train will also have airline-style facilities and convenience for passengers. In the first phase, executive class passengers can avail lounge facilities at the stations by paying a small amount. Other plane-like services include train hostess similar to air-hostesses for serving the passengers.


Also, a decision on the second train — Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Tejas Express will be taken by IRCTC soon.
