The Railway Ministry is planning to provide Wi-Fi facility inside the trains in the next four-and-a-half years.
Along with passenger convenience, this move will also boost security by allowing the police to track the live CCTV feed from every train compartment.
In a statement, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said, “It is a more complicated technology subject. Giving Wi-Fi in running trains requires investment… Towers need to be put and there has to be equipment inside trains. In this, we might have to bring in foreign technology and investors.”
