Indian Railways to Operate 200 Additional Trains from Tomorrow: 6 Safety Measures to Know

The Indian Railways will start the operations of 200 trains from tomorrow, in addition to the already operational 30 special AC trains and Shramik special trains for migrant labourers.

Passengers boarding trains must keep these 6 points in mind:

  • Only passengers with confirmed / RAC tickets will be allowed to enter the railway stations and board the trains.
  • Travellers must reach the railway station at least 90 minutes before the train departure time.
  • The train fares will not include any kind of catering charges.
  • Passengers will not be provided with linen, blankets or pillows during the train journey.
  • It is mandatory for all passengers to wear face masks while entering and exiting from the railway station as well as during the journey.
  • Passengers must download the Aarogya Setu app and maintain social distancing at all times.


In addition to this, here are 4 new announcements by the Railways:

  • The advance reservation period has been increased from 30 to 120 days for all 230 trains.
  • Other terms like current booking, Tatkal quota allocation of seats to roadside stations, etc. will be the same as in trains with regular time tables.
  • The on-board ticket checking staff of the Railways will now be without their customary black coats and ties. They will instead wear gloves, masks, use PPEs and check tickets with magnifying glasses.
  • The railways has issued an appeal for people aged above 65, those with comorbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 to avoid rail travel. 

These trains will have both AC and non-AC classes, along with fully reserved coaches.
