In a bid to reduce human-to-human contact amid the pandemic, the North Central Railways stated that an innovative airport-like QR code-based contactless ticket checking system is being implemented across the country.

Book TrainsThe Chairman said that the TTE at stations or on trains either with their handheld equipment or through their mobile phones with a QR application will be able to scan the code and immediately capture details of the passengers travelling on the ticket.

The Railway Board has asked Zonal Railways to train and sensitize the ticket checking staff for the early implementation of contactless ticket checking and scanning system.
The Moradabad division of Northern Railways has already modified its ticket reservation system to issue a unique QR code to every ticket.
In a similar move, the North Western Railway had come up with the introduction of QR codes for 12 stations last year.
