Indian Railways to Fine Passengers for Destroying Rail Property

A young passenger travelling the Kozhikode-Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi Express was fined for resting his feet on the seat next to him.

A special squad of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained him at Ernakulam Junction on November 28th after a social media post of him sitting with his foot over the adjoining seat went viral.

The RPF registered a case against the passenger invoking two sections of the Indian Railway Act. He was later left off on bail.
