In order to uplift the “Digital India” initiative, RailTel has provided free high-speed Wi-Fi service to as many as 500 stations in just 7 days.
RailWire Wi-Fi by RailTel is now available at 1500 stations across India. On April 5, Sahibabad station became the 1500th station of the Northern Railway to be live with Wi-Fi.
This high-speed Wi-Fi provides connectivity for uninterrupted viewing of videos and for downloading songs, games, movies, etc. by passengers at the stations.
Across the Indian Railways network, over 80 lakh passengers use this free Wi-Fi facility at 831 railway stations.
Steps to use the Wi-Fi:
1. Anyone with a smartphone will be able to access the Wi-Fi. Switch on your smartphone’s Wi-Fi and select RailWire Wi-Fi network.
2. Enter your mobile number on the RailWire homepage that will automatically appear on the screen.
3. Now enter the one-time password (OTP) that you will receive via a message. Once your verification is complete, you will be connected to the internet service.
