Indian Railways Launches and Extends Several Festive Special Trains

Happy festive season, train travellers!

The Indian Railways has announced the launch and extension of several special trains. This decision was taken keeping in mind the expected rise in travel in the coming days.

If you are planning on travelling any time soon, you can book your seats in these special trains via ixigo.

Here are the complete details:


> The Central Railway will be running 82 special trains to accommodate the extra rush of passengers during Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja.

> The South Western Railway has decided to start and extend multiple services for the convenience of the passengers.

> The Northeast Frontier Railway will be running 12 trips of Puja Special trains between Silchar and Kolkata. Here are the details:

Train no. 05639 Silchar–Kolkata Special will be running from 29th September to 3rd November. It will depart from Silchar at 6 AM every Thursday, and will reach Kolkata at 1 PM the next day. 

Train no. 05640 Kolkata–Silchar Special will be running from 30th September to 4th November. It will depart from Kolkata at 3 PM every Friday, and will reach Silchar at 12:30 AM on Sunday.

> In order to fulfil the rising passenger demand, the Northern Railway and the Northeast Frontier Railway have rolled out several special trains connecting multiple cities.
