The national transporter has worked on several design improvements in these new coaches to ensure a safe passenger experience.
The key features of the Post-COVID coach include:
Handsfree amenities: Contactless features include foot-operated lavatory doors, hand and soap dispensers and water taps. Additionally, these coaches will have forearm operated handle on the compartment door.
Copper coated handrail and latches: Railways has used copper as it has antibacterial properties and degrades the virus on its surface in a few hours.
Plasma air purification: This will help in the sterilisation of air and surfaces inside the AC coaches using ionised air to make the premises COVID-19 resistant.
Titanium Dioxide coating: Titanium dioxide is considered a safe substance and is harmless to humans. It is an eco-friendly, water-based coating that kills viruses, bacteria and enhances indoor air quality.
Indian Railways has taken yet another commendable step in making travel safer for everyone.
