Following the coronavirus outbreak, Indian Railways on Tuesday cancelled 85 trains from March 18th to April 1st. This decision was taken in view of the low occupancy and the growing danger of the virus spreading to different states.
The railways has also increased the prices of the platform tickets at over 250 stations from ₹10 to ₹50 to stop the unnecessary crowding.
The railway official said, “Central Railway cancelled 23 trains, followed by South Central Railway cancelling 29 trains, Western Railways cancelling 10 trains, northern Railways 5, North Western Railways 4, East Coast Railways 5 and South Eastern Railways cancelling 9 trains from March 18 to April 1.”
Some of the famous trains including Deccan Queen between Mumbai and Pune, Rajdhani Express, Nagpur Humsafar Express, Pragati Express, Rajdhani and Duronto Express, etc are being suspended until further notice.
