India gets its 1st Railway University; all you need to know

On the auspicious occasion of Teacher’s Day, PM Narendra Modi has gifted India its 1st railway University in Vadodara, Gujarat.

Here’s everything you should know about the university:

> The university will offer seats in 2 courses: Bachelor of Science in Transportation Technology and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Transport Management.


> So far, 103 students have been shortlisted for the undergraduate course.

> Initially, the railway university will function from the historic Pratap Vilas Palace, which houses National Academy of Indian Railways and will later shift to a new 100-acre plot.

> The institute is all set to provide human resources training and build the capability of Indian Railways.


> It is expected to have 3,000 full-time students in the future.

> To improve on-the-job performance and productivity, the university is planning to use the latest pedagogy and technology applications such as satellite based tracking, radio frequency identification and artificial intelligence.
