Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday announced that the construction of a new railway line between Agartala in Tripura and Akhaura in Bangladesh is set to be completed by the end of 2021.
The Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) said, “The ministry will bear the expense of laying 5.46 km track on the Indian side while the cost of laying 6.57 km track on the Bangladesh side is being borne by the Ministry of External Affairs.”
An amount of Rs.580 crore has been sanctioned for the Indo-Bangladesh railway work on the Indian side.
