The main runway of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport will remain shut for six days a week from 7 November 2019 to 28 March 2020. The runway will be closed for operations from Monday to Saturday between 9.30 am to 5.30 pm for repairs.

However, in a statement, an airport spokesperson said, “The main runway will be available for flights on all Sundays and on certain days, like December 25, January 1 and 15, February 19 and 21 and March 10 and 25.”
As the secondary runway doesn’t have access to rapid-exit taxiways, aircraft will spend extra time on the runway. It is to be noted that the CSIA is the world’s busiest single-runway airport, handling close to 1000 flights on a daily basis.
