India’s first indigenously built semi-high speed engine-less Vande Bharat Express Train will soon be put into service on the Delhi-Amritsar route. Compared to the first train, many changes have been made in this rake.
According to some sources, the new rake has already reached Delhi from Integral Coach Factory’s (ICF) Chennai unit, where it was manufactured. It is being kept at the Tughlakabad railway station until all the trial runs and test operations have been conducted.

The new rake will likely be utilised for starting new trips by the automatic, self-propelled train between Delhi and Amritsar. Until this plan gets finalised by the Railway Ministry, the new rake will be used as a spare between Delhi and Varanasi.
Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vande Bharat Express’ first train set has already been running successfully on the Delhi-Varanasi route since February. Both these trains have been manufactured under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Since its operations began earlier this year, Vande Bharat Express has completed 1 lakh kms and has shown a consistent performance.
