The renovation work of railway stations across the country is in progress and Habibganj in Madhya Pradesh will become Indian Railways’ first station to be redeveloped.
The idea behind this redevelopment is to evolve the concourse areas into airport-like luxurious retail spaces where passengers can spend quality-time while they wait for their trains.
Here are 5 interesting things about the redevelopment of Habibganj railway station:
1) This is India’s first railway station to be reconstructed on the lines of Germany’s Heidelberg railway station.
2) The station will have a glass dome-like structure that will serve as the entrance.
3) The new station will have cafeterias and food plaza along with a deluxe waiting lounge for passengers.
4) On the western side, outside the station, there will be a bus terminal, commercial establishments and service apartments.
5) While on the eastern side, there will be hotels, hospitals, spas and a convention centre.
