The first version of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, featuring 857 berths, is currently in the final stages of design. It is expected to roll out from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai by March 2024.

This sleeper train will comprise 823 berths for passengers and 34 for staff. Additionally, each coach will be equipped with three toilets, instead of four, and a small pantry.
