The first-ever train from Tripura to Bangladesh is underway and will be ready to be flagged off by 2020. The construction of a 15 km railway track between Tripura to Bangladesh has already begun.

According to an official statement, the train from Tripura to Bangladesh’s Akhaura will leave from the state’s capital city of Agartala.
The 15 km railway line project is being jointly implemented by the Indian Railways and the Bangladesh Railways. This new project will improve connectivity and boost trade between the two countries.
Additionally, this new train route will also connect the state of West Bengal with Bangladesh.
The cost of the entire project is Rs.972.52 crores. It is being collectively funded by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) on the Indian side, and by the Ministry of External Affairs on the Bangladesh side.
