Authorities of Prayagraj Mela Pradhikaran and Allahabad division of North Central Railways have joined hands to beautify the city of Prayagraj for the upcoming Ardh Kumbh Mela 2019.
This event will start from 15th January 2019, where millions of devotees are expected to take a dip on the banks of Triveni Sangam — the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.
The city is setting up several temporary tents and shelter homes to accommodate pilgrims who will visit Prayagraj.
The local administration is working extensively to give a complete makeover to the city. The roads, chowks and lanes leading to the Sangam are being widened and cleaned to facilitate a smooth experience for the pilgrims.
The state government has sanctioned Rs.500 crore for developing special infrastructure at Akharas.
The city walls are also getting a makeover with beautiful paintings. The paintings depicting the cultural heritage of Sanatan Dharma are displayed all over the city.
