Earlier, some of the job profiles like welders, mechanists, etc. were confined to men. Now, the situation has certainly changed. In the latest recruitment drive by Railways, nearly 5 lakh women are competing with men for various job profiles.
There are a total of 4.75 lakh women competing against 42.82 lakh men for railway vacancies. Senior railway ministry officials in a recent interview said, “the job applications is a sign that women are coming forward in areas that have until now been dominated by men.”
Book TrainsBesides this, 98 transgenders have also applied for loco pilot and technician jobs.
The maximum number of female applicants are from Bihar followed by Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal and Rajasthan.
