Eight coaches of the Lucknow-bound train, Rajya Rani Express got derailed near Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. According to sources, ten people received minor injuries but no one was severely injured in the accident.

The accident happened around 8.15 am on Saturday when 8 coaches were derailed on the Meerut-Lucknow route. The relief work has started and senior railway officials, including the Moradabad DRM, Pramod Kumar are already on the spot.
Train operations on ย Delhi-Lucknow route have been affected badly as number of trains have been cancelled and delayed due to the derailment. Several local passengers were stranded at Bareilly Railway station due to cancellation of many trains. There was a huge ruckus created by the passengers who demanded a refund of their tickets.

Meanwhile, the CM of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, announced Rs 25,000 compensation for travellers who received minor injuries and Rs 50,000 for seriously injured passengers.
An inquiry will take place for looking into the causes of derailment as Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu promised strict actions against people responsible for this mishap.
