To ensure that the flight ticket prices are affordable for passengers as well as financially viable for airlines, the government has released the upper and lower limits of flight ticket prices.
Under the new fare structure, air routes have been divided into seven bands based on travel time. Each such section has its minimum and maximum fare. The airfares have been capped for three months.
Here are the seven price bands:
1) Sector ‘A’ will have flights with a duration of less than 40 minutes.
Minimum fare: Rs.2000
Maximum fare: Rs.6000
This sector includes routes such as Delhi-Chandigarh, Patna-Ranchi and Jammu-Srinagar among others.
2) Sector ‘B’ will have flights with a duration of more than 40 minutes and up to 60 minutes.
Minimum fare: Rs.2500
Maximum fare: rs.7500
Flights under this sector include Delhi-Bhopal and Delhi-Lucknow among others.
3) Sector ‘C’ will have flights with a duration between 60 and 90 minutes.
Minimum fare: Rs.3000
Maximum fare: Rs.9000
Flights under this sector include Delhi-Udaipur among others.

Minimum fare: Rs.3500
Maximum fare: Rs.10,000

5) Sector ‘E’ will have flights with a duration between 120 and 150 minutes.
Minimum fare: Rs.4500
Maximum fare: Rs.13,000
Flights under this sector include routes like Delhi-Bengaluru.
6) Sector ‘F’ will have flights with a duration between 150 and 180 minutes.
Minimum fare: Rs.5500
Maximum fare: Rs.15,700
Flights under this sector include routes like Delhi-Imphal.
7) Sector ‘G’ will have flights with a duration between 180 and 210 minutes.
Minimum fare: Rs.6500
Maximum fare: Rs.18,600
This sector includes routes like Delhi-Port Blair.
Moreover, while airlines are allowed to sell all the seats onboard, 40 percent of the seats will have to be sold at the midpoint of the lower and upper airfare limits prescribed section-wise above.
