The Indian government has extended the nationwide lockdown till May 31 as a necessary step to break the COVID-19 infection cycle.
However, domestic flights will resume from May 25, in a calibrated manner, confirmed the Civil Aviation Ministry.
International commercial airline operations will be suspended until May 31.
Inter-state travel of people will be allowed in Lockdown 4.0, which was not permitted since March 24.
Additionally, all hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services will remain shut except for healthcare workers, government officials, stranded persons and for quarantine facilities. However, restaurants will be permitted to open kitchens for home delivery of food items.
The government confirmed that all essential services will remain open. Grocery shops, Banks, ATMs, petrol pumps and hospitals will continue to function.
The number of COVID-19 cases has surpassed 90,000 in India, and the next few weeks are extremely crucial for the entire country.
