Good news passengers! Soon your journey time on the Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani Express will reduce by more than an hour.
In a first of its kind initiative, the Western Railway zone is planning to implement the ‘push and pull’ method to boost the speed of the Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani Express.
A Western Railway Officer said, “This method is usually used in freight trains. Under this technique, one engine will pull the train from the front, while a second engine, attached to the rear, will provide the extra power needed to accelerate and decelerate.
The train presently covers a distance of about 1,386-km distance in 15 hours and 35 minutes from Mumbai to Delhi. While its return journey from Delhi-Mumbai takes around 15 minutes extra. Now with the help of push-and-pull technique, railways aims to reduce this time by more than 60 minutes.
