Currently, catering to domestic passengers, the facility will extend its services to international passengers once it obtains the required approvals.
At present, IndiGo passengers have the privilege of utilizing this facility. However, it is expected that five other airlines, namely Air India, Vistara, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and British Airways, will soon enable their passengers to avail the self-baggage drop service.
To use the SBD facility, passengers must follow a simple two-step process. First, they must generate their boarding passes and baggage tags at the self-check-in kiosk. Then, they must tag their check-in baggage.
Additionally, upon reaching the self-baggage drop (SBD) facility, passengers will need to scan their boarding pass, confirm that their luggage is free from any prohibited or hazardous items, and place their bags on the designated conveyor belt. Once these procedures are completed, the baggage will be automatically transported to the sorting area and subsequently loaded onto the aircraft.
