The Central and Western Railways have ordered the withdrawal of blankets and curtains from AC coaches of trains to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
In a statement, Western Railways spokesperson Gajanan Mahatpurkar said, “As per the extant instructions, curtains and blankets provided in AC coaches are not washed every trip. Passengers will be advised to bring their own blankets in their own interest. Some additional bed sheets will be kept for any exigencies.”
Meanwhile, the Central Railways has also instructed the maintenance personnel to intensively disinfect coach fittings like grab handles, door handles, snack trays, window glass, electrical switches, charge points etc. as they are touched by thousands of passengers every day.
