The Costa Rica Tourism Board has finally rolled out the Digital Nomad Visa for international travellers. Under the initiative, foreign workers can work from the country for up to two years.
Visa holders will be able to extend their 90-day tourist visa to a year, and will have the option to prolong it further for another year. Applicants will be required to produce proof of a stable monthly income of at least USD 3,000 to qualify for the visa. In addition, medical insurance will be mandatory for the duration of their stay in Costa Rica.
What benefits will the Nomad Visa entail?
Apart from the ultra cool aspect of being able to work from an exotic location, foreign nationals in possession of this visa will be exempt from income tax. They will also be able to open a bank account in Costa Rica and validate their home country’s driving licence.
