Coronavirus update: Sikkim Reports First Case Of Coronavirus

Sikkim government confirmed the first positive case of coronavirus in the state. The patient is a resident of south Sikkim with travel history to Delhi.

In the last few months, Sikkim remained COVID-free with zero coronavirus cases.


Sikkim was one of the states with strictest possible measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The state made it compulsory for all entrants to take the COVID-19 test, irrespective of symptoms, before entering. Additionally, Sikkim also decided to keep its doors closed for all tourists until October 2020.

In terms of case count, Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with over 47000 cases. Dadra and Nagar Haveli (1), Arunachal Pradesh (1) and Mizoram (1) are among the least affected states.

Nagaland and Lakshadweep Islands have not reported a single case of coronavirus yet.

Additionally, Goa which was earlier declared COVID-free has 11 new cases of the contagious virus, taking the state tally to 66.
