Railway authorities in Mumbai have trained their officials to identify passengers with symptoms of the Coronavirus.
Nearly 5000 people travel by the suburban railways in Mumbai daily. Hence, precautions are essential and a must for the safety of the commuters.
Some of the steps taken by Mumbai railway staff include:
- Staff training: Station masters, ticket checkers, booking staff, railway hospital staff and security personally are ready to handle commuters with flu-like symptoms.
- Healthcare: The suspected commuters will be taken to Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai. Several other hospitals have created isolation words.
- Helpline Number: A new helpline number (1123978046) is there to help suspected passengers.
- Awareness Campaigns: The railways have started regular announcements on the prevention of the Coronavirus. Posters with safety precautions are put in several train compartments.
