In a precautionary step against the spread of coronavirus, Qatar and Kuwait have announced a travel ban on many countries, including China, Iran, Iraq, South Korea and India. The ban from flying to Qatar will have a major dent on Indian airlines as the country’s capital Doha is among the top five destinations for Indians travelling overseas.
Every quarter, about a million passengers fly between Doha and major Indian cities. Only, UAE, Thailand and Singapore have busier routes than Doha.
Domestic airlines have also curtailed services to Singapore and Thailand. Saudi Arabia has also stopped entry for those holding tourist visas, including passengers from India.
P.S. Over 50 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country till date.
