COVID-19 Update: Face punishment for attacks on corona warriors

Adopting “zero tolerance,” the government of India approves a non-bailable offence with a maximum punishment of 7 years imprisonment and upto Rs 5 lakh fine for attacking corona warriors.

Prakash Javadekar, minister of environment, forest and climate change said, “Our government has zero-tolerance against violence and harassment targeting doctors, nurses, paramedics and ASHA workers when they are doing their best to fight the pandemic.”

This step came after several cases were reported where COVID-19 warriors fighting against coronavirus were ruthlessly assaulted.
