Adopting “zero tolerance,” the government of India approves a non-bailable offence with a maximum punishment of 7 years imprisonment and upto Rs 5 lakh fine for attacking corona warriors.
Prakash Javadekar, minister of environment, forest and climate change said, “Our government has zero-tolerance against violence and harassment targeting doctors, nurses, paramedics and ASHA workers when they are doing their best to fight the pandemic.”
Note: This step came after several cases were reported where COVID-19 warriors fighting against coronavirus were ruthlessly assaulted.
