Indian Railways is all ready to build reservoirs in its bullet depots to store rainwater. The rainwater can be used for multiple purposes, including the maintenance of high-speed trains. The move comes at a time when the country is struggling with a water crisis.
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), implementing agency for the project, said, “Railways is ready to make reservoirs in its bullet depots to store freshwater which might be utilized in the upkeep of the high-speed trains.”

The railways is all set to start its high-speed corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The maintenance depots for the train are planned to be at Sabarmati and Surat in Gujarat and Thane in Maharashtra. It is the first time that Indian Railways has attempted such an approach.
