Good news for female passengers! Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced free travel for women on Delhi Metro, Delhi Transport Corporation buses and cluster buses.
Note: This step is to encourage women to use public transport in view of their safety.
Kejriwal said, “We are making an effort to start this within two to three months. We’re also seeking suggestions from people, regarding implementation.”
“We encourage those who can afford, to buy tickets and not take subsidy so that others could benefit,” he also added.
This plan would cost the Delhi government Rs.700-800 crore. The government has also decided to install 2,80,000 CCTV cameras all over the city.
