Chennai Airport reopens at 9am after Cyclone Nivar
Flight operations at Chennai Airport had been shut yesterday as a safety precaution against the cyclone, which was generating speeds of up to 120kmph. The closure, from 7pm to 7am, was extended for 2 hours, and affected domestic, international and cargo flights. Normal schedules have resumed since 9am.

Bengaluru to San Francisco: new flight route
Kempegowda International Airport will now offer direct, non-stop flights from Bengaluru to San Francisco. The flight, connecting two of the world’s major IT hubs, will be Air India’s longest international route, bridging a gap of around 14,000 kilometres to land on the western coast of the United States.
Ticket bookings opened on November 25, 2020, while the flights begin from January 11, 2021.

Delhi Airport introduces RT-PCR test packages
Indira Gandhi International Airport has announced special COVID-19 test packages for passengers at its on-site lab. Those departing from the airport can avail the RT-PCR test, hailed as the ‘gold standard’, for Rs 2400, while those arriving at the airport must pay Rs 5000 for the same.
These tests provide results in 4 to 6 hours. Available round-the-clock, the provision is “only for passengers who are looking for RT-PCR certification and do not fall in any other exemption criteria and haven’t done any RT-PCR test in the last 72 hours.” You can book your slot online on the airport’s website.
