ATM machines to be installed at railway platforms across the country

To earn INR 2000 crore annually from non-tariff sources, The Indian Railways are planning to start a number of revenue-yielding activities. These activities will include train branding, advertisements along the tracks, and rail radio schemes. Railways are all set to collaborate with all the big names for the same.

One of the most important activities in this scheme will include installation of over 2000 ATM machines at platforms across all major stations in the country. The work is set to start in the third week of January 2017.

As part of the new policy, big LED screens will also be installed in platforms, station buildings and foot overbridges for advertising under Rail Display Network. Initially, 25 stations including Old Delhi, Jaipur and Varanasi will be covered as a part of this scheme. Later, the service will be extended to other major stations as well. Advertisements will be done using vinyl wrapping inside and outside the trains.

Installing ATMs machines at platforms will help The Indian Railways generate revenue and provide easy availability of cash for train travellers.
