Amarnath Yatra 2021: dates, age limits
This year, the Amarnath Temple in Jammu and Kashmir will be open for darshan from June 28 to August 22.
The yatra was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and 2021’s rules state that only yatris between the ages of 13 and 75 can make the journey. Women who are more than six weeks pregnant will not be issued permits.
How to register
All Amarnath yatris must fill and submit this registration form, four passport-sized photographs and a compulsory health certificate (CHC) to the banks before getting a yatra permit. The CHC must have been issued on or after March 15, 2021 by an authorised doctor or medical institution.
Registration officials will only issue permits for two routes to the Amarnath Temple. The permit will display ‘BALTAL’ for the Baltal route, and ‘PAHALGAM’ for the Pahalgam route. It will also mention which day the yatri will be allowed to cross the Access Control Gates at Baltal and Chandanwari (Pahalgam), using the following colour coding:
Each issued Amarnath Yatra permit costs Rs 100.
Amarnath Yatra distance: by foot, air and pony
According to the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, this is how long yatris take on average to reach the shrine using the Baltal and Pahalgam routes:
