Info:
The weather woes continue in north India as the Indian Railways decided to cancel 78 trains till January 15th, 2017 due to dense fog, resulting in low visibility in this part of the country. Almost 34 trains out of the total number in Northern Zone including Rohtak Intercity, Lichchavi Express, Unchahar Express, Varanasi-Dehradun Express and Chandigarh-Amritsar Express will remain non-operational till mid of January 2017.
What’s more
Some of the other affected trains include Lucknow Double-Decker Express, Jaipur-Chandigarh Express, Mau Express, Gorakhpur Weekly Express, Sealdah Express, Begumpura Express and North East Express. A senior Railway Ministry official said, “ Since the visibility has been reduced due to dense fog situation, we have taken precautionary measures by announcing cancellation of these trains in advance”.
Useful Titbits
The Indian Railways is making sure that travellers don’t have to wait on platforms for endless hours just to enquire about their trains. Regular announcements are being made to inform the passengers about the running status of trains and Help Desks have been set up at a number of railway stations for guiding the travellers about train services for the above mentioned trains.
Also, Loco drivers have been asked to drive slowly and carefully during the foggy weather to avoid any undesirable situation.
