6,000+ Special Trains to be Operated During Festive Season

Special trains are run every year during festivals and this year, the number of trains has been significantly increased to accommodate the surge in travellers. It is noteworthy that during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals, millions of passengers travel across the country.

To provide them with a smooth and comfortable journey, Indian Railways has prepared to run more than 6000 special trains again this year. Over the next two months, these special trains will ensure passengers reach their destinations seamlessly.

Some of  the major routes are here:


> New Delhi – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Special (Train no. 04075/04076)


This train will run twice a week, departing from New Delhi Railway Station every Wednesday and Sunday between October 6 and November 17 at 11:45 p.m.The return journey from Katra will commence at 09:20 p.m. from October 7 to November 18.

 

> Old Delhi – Varanasi Special (04080/04079)

This train is scheduled to start from Old Delhi on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 07:30 p.m. from October 24 to November 16. It will return from Varanasi on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 06:25 p.m. between October 25 and November 17.

> Anand Vihar Terminal – Ayodhya Cant Special (04096/04095)


This train will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 09:00 a.m. from October 7 to November 18, while the return service will leave Ayodhya Cant every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from October 8 to November 19 at 09:00 a.m.

> Old Delhi – Darbhanga Special (04068/04067)


This train will run on Tuesdays and Fridays at 07:30 p.m. from October 25 to November 15, with the return journey departing from Darbhanga at 06:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays from October 26 to November 16.

Last year in 2023, Indian Railways ran an impressive total of 4429 festival special trains, ensuring a comfortable travel experience for millions of passengers.
