As a part of the latest relaxations announced by the government, hotels, restaurants and shopping malls have been allowed to reopen from June 8.
The hospitality industry has taken this as a welcome move. Hotels have confirmed that they are ready to introduce new standards of hygiene and cleanliness going forward.
Here are some of the steps hotels are taking to ensure a safe environment for guests:
Contactless processes
Many hotels are considering innovative methods to make all processes contactless. From viewing the menu to making the payments, all functions will be digitised. For example, Taj Hotels are considering digitised or single-use menus, and online check-in and check-out.
Thermal screening of all employees and guests
All employees, vendors, and guests entering the hotels will undergo a mandatory thermal screening.
Intensive sanitisation
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) said that all hotels under its brands such as Taj, Vivanta, SeleQtions and Ginger would implement enhanced precautionary measures. They will conduct hospital-level sanitisation to ensure the highest level of safety. Common areas, cars, elevators will witness more frequent disinfection.
Strict social distancing
All hotels will adhere to the guidelines by the government, and social distancing will be followed everywhere. The IHCL group said it would suspend all self-serving buffets, and restaurants and banquets will have fewer tables than usual. The hotel staff will also be trained on social distancing norms.
If you are planning to step out and experience the new normal, don’t forget to wear a mask and follow all precautions.
