Festival & summer special trains extended across India

The end of August is slowly kicking off India’s festive season, which will ramp up in the next two months. Since train travel and advance bookings shoot up at this time, the Indian Railways has announced 32 train extensions on busy routes to ease the rush.

The extensions are for fully reserved trains, covering important routes like Mumbai–Gorakhpur, Indore–Patna, Bengaluru–Delhi, Howrah–Porbandar, Mumbai–Jammu Tawi, Bhagalpur–Gandhidham, among many others.

Festival & summer special trains extended

> The Western Railway is indefinitely extending trips for five pairs of festival special trains from September, as well as six trips for one pair of summer special trains. Bookings for the festival trains will open from tomorrow (August 24) while the summer special tickets are already available.

The same railway zone has also released a second list, detailing more extensions that will continue until further notice. Seven pairs of festival special trains will be extended from September, with their
bookings opening from tomorrow. 

Check their details below:

> Six trips of train no.s 05301/05302 between Bandra Terminus and Gorakhpur have been extended. Train no. 05301 Gorakhpur–Bandra T. Summer Special which was notified up to August 20 will now have trips on August 27, September 3 and September 10 as well. Similarly, train no. 05302 Bandra T.–Gorakhpur Summer Special which was notified up to August 21, will also run on August 28, September 4 and September 11. Bookings are open for this train.

Other important extensions

Four popular long-distance trains connecting to Bengaluru have been extended. Their tickets can be booked on ixigo:

> Train no. 02984 Agartala–Bengaluru Cantt. Superfast Special has been extended. It will run on every Tuesday from August 31, 2021 to February 22, 2022. 

> Train no. 02983 Bengaluru Cantt.–Agartala Superfast Special on the return leg is also extended. It will run on every Friday from September 3, 2021 to February 25, 2022. 

> Train no. 06249 Yesvantpur–Hazrat Nizamuddin Festival Special has been extended till September 27. It runs on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. 

> Train no. 06250 Hazrat Nizamuddin–Yesvantpur Festival Special has been extended till September 30. It runs on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
