The Prayagraj Railway Division has announced comprehensive plans to operate over 150 Kumbh Mela special trains on January 29 for Mauni Amavasya. This initiative ensures seamless travel for passengers visiting Prayagraj for the holy occasion of Kumbh Mela 2025.
In addition to these special trains, the division has introduced colour-coded ticketing and shelter arrangements to enhance passenger convenience. Officials have stated that running more than 150 special trains in a single day is a record-breaking endeavour, far surpassing the 85 trains operated on Mauni Amavasya during the Kumbh Mela 2019. With these efforts, the Prayagraj Railway Division aims to run a train approximately every four minutes, marking a significant milestone in their operations for the Maha Kumbh 2025.
The Kumbh Mela details shared by the Mela Authority estimate that over 10 crore devotees will bathe at the Sangam on Mauni Amavasya, with 10-20% expected to rely on train travel.
This initiative highlights the important role of the Railways in managing the transportation needs of millions of pilgrims during this grand spiritual event.
