Emirates Overview
Emirates is the national airline of Dubai, United Arab Emirates(UAE) and is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group. Emirates was formed to fill the gap created in mid-1980s when Gulf Air began to cut back its services to Dubai. The airline was backed by Dubai's royal family, who provided the airline with two aircrafts. Emirates commenced its operations from Dubai on 25 October, 1985. Since that day, they have recorded unprecedented success with an average growth of 20% every year. Its hub is at Dubai International Airport. Emirates is wholly-owned by the Government and has always worked for quality rather than quantity. The high standards of quality maintained by the airline have made it a name to reckon with, in the aviation industry. Excellent service coupled with consistent profits has given Emirates a well established brand name. A trendsetter in the aviation industry, Emirates Airlines was declared the fifth best airline in the world by Skytrax in 2009.
